Scholarship application

Below you will find information about how you can apply to a scholarship from NORAM. Please keep in mind that all documents have to be submitted (by email or post) by April 1st.

Application for scholarship for American students:

All documentation listed below must be submitted for the application to be complete (in English).

  • Electronic application, including a electronic payment at the end (400 NOK). Link to electronic application and payment.
  • Updated resume
  • Personal Statement
    • 1-2 pages in English
    • What you will study in Norway, specifically for your thesis, project, about the academics/scientific of your program (please write detailed)
    • What you are looking to gain from the experience/education in Norway
  • Official transcripts from all universities attended.
    • These can either be originals directly from the institutions, or certified true copies (stamped saying it’s a true copy). If your school offers online secure PDF transcripts, we accept those (use as recipient). Regular photocopies are not accepted. Please make sure transcript contain information about what degree you have obtained.
      Have you studied in Norway? Send us a copy of your transcript.
  • Budget for the requested scholarship period (excel)
  • Two letters of recommendations (confidential).
    • These should be written on institutional letterhead and signed
    • Sent by email directly from the person recommending
    • Applicant is responsible for their submission
  • Letter of admission/invitation if already received. Proof of admission/invitation will be required if awarded a scholarship.

Keep in mind, that all changes to the plans must be reported to NORAM. This includes changes of host institution, program, program length (and others changes) as it may impact the committee’s decision. Information that has not been disclosed may result in withdrawal of the scholarship.

Application review

Your application for scholarship will be reviewed by our scholarship committee. If the field of study is outside the scope of the committee, experts are consulted to review the academic quality of your plan/scope of project.

Applicants are notified at the end of May with the committee’s decision.

If awarded a scholarship, the award will be paid out approximately three weeks before the start of the program.
